Google Search Console is a free tool developed by Google. Earlier it was named Google webmasters 

but in 2010 it was re branded and was given a new name called Google Search Console.

This tool was developed for all the webmasters , developers so that they can optimize the visibility of

their websites and improve their performance.

Main Functions of Google Search Console :

a.Performance : You can understand the number of clicks,impressions and the click through rate of 

your website. You can also find  the keywords which people are using to find your website so it is a 

very important tool for your keyword research.

b. URL Inspection . You can  do inspection of your URL and do crawling and indexing of our website.

c.Coverage : You can find if all the pages are crawled or not . It is important to get all the pages 

crawled and indexed .. The error can be resolved from the coverage option. It is important to rectify the

 issues to improve user experience.

d. Sitemap: Sitemap is a very important part of on page search engine optimization. You have to create

a sitemap so that google can crawl all your pages.

Sitemap is a collection of the pages , images and links of your website. You can easily create a sitemap

using the XML sitemap generator and upload the file to your website.

The filename of your sitemap should be named sitemap.xml. .After creating  the sitemap add the

sitemap to the google search console by typing   abc.com/sitemap.xml . Your sitemap will be added to

the tool.

e. International targeting : if you want to target your website to a particular country you can do that

with the help of this option.

.f.Removals: Removals is a new function added to the Google search console .

With the help of this function you can remove any url from the google search results for 6 months.

g.Web Tools: There is one more important tool called the web tool which is required to test the ad

experience on mobile and desktop.

Along with that you should also add structured data to your website and test it with the help of

structured data mark up tool. It is a micro data that you make to tell google some additional information 

about your website.

h.Links: You can also understand the external and internal links of your website.you can also check if

you have any security issue or malware attack on your website.

i.                    Manual Action Report :You can also check any manual penalty given by google in the

 manual action report. You can rectify the mistakes and send a reconsideration request to

 google.

j. Mobile friendliness test: Apart from this you can also check the mobile  friendliness of your 

website . You can check the website speed on mobile and desktop.
